Every regulated broker in Switzerland uses the word segregation. Very few explain what it means in practice. This is a short walkthrough of the actual mechanics — the accounts, the audits, and the point at which client money leaves your name.
Where the money sits
Client deposits never touch our operating balance sheet. Funds move from your source account into a segregated omnibus at a Tier-1 Swiss custodian, held in your legal name under a trust structure. Our firm can instruct — we cannot spend.
What FINMA actually looks at
- Daily reconciliation between internal ledger and custodian statements
- Monthly attestation of client-money vs. firm-money separation
- Annual independent audit of the segregation trust deed
- Continuous capital adequacy monitoring under FinIA
